Nominations for 2027
AAIDD-Texas Chapter Board Members

It is time to submit your nomination to the 2027 Board for the Texas Chapter of AAIDD.  There are seven Board positions available, and ballots will go out to the membership the last week of September.  If you are interested in becoming a Board member, please submit your name for an open position and include a bio that will let membership know who you are, your experience with people with IDD, and why you would like to be a part of the Texas Chapter Board.  Although not a requirement, you can include a headshot with your submission.  The bios will be available to membership as they decide on which candidates to place their votes.  Our preference is that people self-nominate.  If you know someone who could be an asset to the Board, rather than you submitting the nomination, encourage them to do so on their own behalf.  Board member responsibilities are outlined on the nomination form, available here.

Nominations for Board positions must be submitted by Friday, September 25, 2026.  Ballots will be distributed soon after, and once returns are calculated, the 2027 Board will be announced at the regularly scheduled October 16, 2026 Board meeting.

The following seven (7) positions are currently vacant or are held by members whose terms expire December 31, 2026.  Note that current Board members whose terms expire are eligible for re-election to begin new terms.

• President-Elect    

• Secretary

• Treasurer

• Self-Advocate (to fill an unexpired 1-year term)

• Member At Large:  3 positions

AAIDD-TX Chapter Board Responsibilities:

• Attend and actively participate in quarterly meetings.  (Two face-to-face and two virtual.)

• Be a part of, and attend monthly Convention Planning meetings. (Most are virtual.)

• Actively participate in committee work when assigned.

• Attend the Annual Convention.

• Promote and support supporting educational events implemented by the Board.
