As the current Texas Legislative session draws to a close, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to all those who made a meaningful contribution. This year presents an unprecedented opportunity for substantial transformation in the advancement of services and supports for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) throughout the state. A remarkable and unified effort was made to advocate for positive change across a diverse range of programs, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders. Witnessing the collective mobilization of so many individuals and agencies for a shared cause was truly inspiring. In my 32 years of experience in this field and numerous legislative sessions, I cannot recall a moment that has ignited such profound inspiration and motivation. While the specific legislative outcomes for IDD remain uncertain, it is undeniable the profound and united stance taken by many Texans on behalf of all families and individuals within the IDD community. I extend my deepest gratitude for your unwavering dedication and efforts. While there is still much work to be accomplished, let us take a moment to celebrate this significant milestone.
