Why We Do What We Do: A Spirituality of Calling and Support

Advocacy, support and services with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families is a calling as well as a job, a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others while also living out our core values. We don’t often talk about it, which neglects key strategies for making meaning and enhancing commitment to our work. We lose as well as the people we support, who also thrive when doing something they love.  How might we build a spirituality of calling and support that benefits the people we support as well as professionals who journey with them?
